It has a cotton backing, but we suggest rolling it out over a pad to keep it from shifting.

Beautiful colors! Very soft! This rug hit all my high marks for the affordable price and it appears good quality! My Doberman has, at a year and 7 months, managed to destroy 2 previous rugs in my entryway (no where else in the house, and not from potty training). He has become well behaved and less destructive as of lately; but, I don’t dare yet purchase a rug that is too expensive to be easily replaced. We are obsessed with this rug! It is the perfect size for our living room - I love the pattern and feel as if it has completely made the room! The material is sturdy and I am not worried about it pilling or falling apart. We would most definitely recommend anybody else who purchases, to make sure you get a rug pad to lay underneath it as well so it will stay in place and not move! Well worth the 6 month wait! This is a nice alternative to a traditional pattern . The plaid is a little modern and offset . Mine was blues with touches of yellows and pinks. I can place the rug by myself. I used the recommended premium pad . Any pattern of choice would be good in this rug . It’s a very soft, affordable style that cleans up easily. I chose two to place together for a great room ..
